4 Day Tree Climbing

Location: Beautiful Finger Lakes region surrounding Ithaca

Description: Spend four days climbing the beautiful hardwoods of the northeast. You will learn to climb trees, move around inside them, go from tree to tree, zipline, and much more! You will enjoy views of the area from branches up to 80 feet up in the air! Experience all of this in a relaxed yet high-energy and exciting environment, while getting to know your fellow trippers and the Ithaca/Finger Lakes area that will be home during your stay at Cornell.

Activities: 4 days learning and experiencing the ins and outs of tree climbing! You'll even spend a night in the trees (harnessed and securely attached of course)!

Itinerary:

Day 0: Sunday, August 13th: Trip participants arrive between 11:00AM and 1:00PM at Cornell, trip participants and their guides meet and begin to get to know each other, prepare their belongings for the trip and have a trip dinner (usually at one of the restaurants in Collegetown). Trip participants and their guides sleep on the Arts Quad.
Day 1: The trip is awoken bright and early and departs to the location of their first activity.
Day 4: All trips return to Ithaca for Camp-O-Rama, a closing ceremony and celebration of the Outdoor Odyssey trips. Trip participants clean their gear, share a meal with other trips, and get the chance to meet some of the ~200 other participants.
Move in Day: Friday, August 18th: Trip is shuttled back to Bartels Hall, where the participants return their rented gear as a group. Once all gear is returned, trip participants are free to register at Barton Hall and move into their dorms. Often times, guides will help their trip participants move in.
Physical Activity Level: We will be using mechanical devices to ascend ropes into tree branches and will be climbing a few trees a day. Uses mostly core strength while ascending, but you don’t have to be superman.
